Community Volunteer and Journalist

I bring a passion for always doing the right thing.

I am Jersey-born and bred, and spent 35-plus years working in Central Jersey as a community journalist, while volunteering for a variety of local organizations.
A graduate of Northwestern University, (B.S.J., 1983, M.SJ, 1983), I started at the Courier News on Dec. 12, 1983, three days after completing my master’s degree. (I also interned for the newspaper in the summer of 1982.) Over my career, I worked in a variety of roles for the newspapers, including copyeditor, reporter and in different editorial and advertorial assignments. For the last nine years of my journalism career, I was editor and general manager of the Courier News and Home News Tribune, as well as their digital platform, MyCentralJersey.com.
I retired from these roles on Feb. 1, 2019, and proudly completed my work for the USA TODAY Network with the publication of a three-day series on the Caregiver Crisis in New Jersey. It can be read at https://bit.ly/2Dz6NMd. I also wrote a final column for the platforms, summarizing my experience, personal passions and what has driven me to succeed. It can be read at https://bit.ly/2DinPwT. I loved my job, and I love living, working and volunteering in New Jersey.
On Feb. 19, I began a new chapter in my work life as the interim director of the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board, serving Somerset and Hunterdon counties. After eight months of working with a great team and a variety of local, county and state partners, I became the director of the Greater Raritan Workforce Development on Nov. 1. In this role, we support a robust, flexible and responsive workforce system in the two counties, working to meet the needs of employers and jobseekers. For more information, visit www.thegrwdb.org.
